Charming Arizona residents for over 25 years, Nello's family-run bistro features indoor and patio dining with age-old tradition and timeless recipes that have been passed down through generations as well as modern adaptations that will impress even the most discriminating of gourmets... the traditional fare and house specialties: pizza, pasta, sandwiches, heaping salads and sinful desserts.
Personal Neighborhood Feel... a watering hole for some and a second home for others, guests feel a strong sense of ownership and often participate in making others welcome.
Roots... Grandpa Caesare a butcher, was raised in the tiny villa of Lucca, Italy where the recipe for Nello's trademarked sausage originates. Papa Dante married Mama Cleone, and her name still graces our famous house dressing & marinade. Their two youngest boys, Geno and Brian, established Nello's in Tempe with just four small tables where they made the dough each day by hand. Geno's experience and recipes from Chicago and Salt Lake City combined with Brian's knack for befriending and remembering people's names helped the restaurant excel. A couple years later, the two eldest boys joined the team: Danny an engineer from Utah and Ray, a builder from Chicago. Together they helped open four additional locations! Eric Gronning (the fifth non-blood brother), was asked to take over the original location in Tempe when Geno chose to spend more time at his new desert adobe home growing fresh organic tomatoes...which are a part of the Nello's recipes today.
Nello's can be your home away from home where smells of spices and homemade cooking fill the air.
